About Windmill Hill

The property combines the quirky attractiveness of a converted mill with the more modern amenities of an annex, gardens and pool. There is also free WiFi available.

The mill is full of authentic features ranging from its large, heavy oak door, its traditional Portuguese tiled panels to the rustic chestnut beams. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge with a wood burner for those cooler evenings. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a super king sized bed, an ensuite bathroom and a Juliet balcony with a fantastic view of the pool and the surrounding area. In the basement there is a bedroom with bunk beds, adjacent to which there is a WC.

The annex is a few paces away across the courtyard. It has a large kitchen diner and a sitting area with TV and DVD player. It is equipped with a pellet burner for those cooler months of the year. There is a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom next door. There is also a summer kitchen with additional space for food preparation.

The attractive, well maintained gardens have several areas in which to enjoy the sun or the shade. The mill also has a terrace with a millstone table, ideal for that glass of wine at sunset. At the foot of the pool there is a covered area for al-fresco dining next to which is a purpose built BBQ for those warm summer evenings.

About the Area

The Alentejo is not only a beautiful, unspoilt, rural region but it is also rich in history, culture, archaeology and nature. The landscape varies from valley to seaside with rugged coastlines, secluded bays, sun scorched plains and lush vinelands.

There are plenty of outdoor pursuits on offer, from mountain biking, horse riding and walking to water sports, paragliding and hot air ballooning. Come and savour the local wines, cheeses and cured meats, or explore the authentic farms, villages and hilltop chapels. Alentejo waits to be discovered.
